The most important part of any association is its members. Keeping them active, interested, and involved should be the association's main focus. So what are some ways this can be accomplished?
Give Away Valuable Content
It might seem counter-intuitive at first, but this approach can actually yield more long-term members and future customers. If you give your members free content that is worth something, they will remember it. It portrays a sense of trust and value. This can be valuable PDF or mp3. Or a sneak peek at an upcoming project or paid members area. Putting this content in their hands not only gives them a sample of what your association can offer, but also keeps your name in their heads. So next time they need one of your services, they will be familiar with you and have someone to go to they know they can trust and rely on.
Start A Blog
Your association needs a blog for members to access. This will serve to keep members informed of important events for your association. By having this information in an easy-to-access location, members will have no trouble keeping up to date with what's going on with the association and industry it's associated with. You could also post useful articles or free content for members to enjoy.
Ask Your Members
Keep up with your members and how they are doing. Talk to them. Ask them what they'd like to see added to the association. See if they're interested in taking a survey on how the association is helping (or even not helping) them. The important thing is to get feedback from them so that you can improve the association to suit the needs of your members. This will also send the message that the association wants to please its members and always listens to their concerns.
Remember that an association is nothing without the support and satisfaction of its members. So keep your members happy and continue adding value to your association.
