Description:
Tom Thomson was the painter of many of Canada’s most iconic artworks. His experiments in colour and technique resulted in vibrant groundbreaking works such as The Jack Pine and The West Wind. In this workshop, we’ll learn about Tom Thomson, his working methods, and paint a homage to Tom Thomson's piece (or pieces). Apart from working from a specific Thomson painting, students have the option of painting from an image they provide which they will paint in the Thomson style. The suggested medium is acrylic (or oil). Materials: Bring art supplies and supports you already have. Include water container, rags, acrylic/oil brushes, one canvas or more, 11”x 14” approximately, and/or paper.
