Description:
Come exploring on our Art Safari! Try out three different mediums or techniques over three weeks, with different instructors and all materials supplied. Great for beginners who want to try something new before buying a lot of supplies, and for anyone wanting a fun creative time on Thursday evenings. Possible topics include watercolours, oil pastels, printmaking, collage, calligraphy, and more! Dec. 2: Collage, with Barb Carr. No need to draw! Collage is basically cutting and pasting, but the possibilities are endless. The term collage was coined by both Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso in the beginning of the 20th century when collage became a distinctive part of modern art. We’ll work on two projects, one using magazines and one using tissue paper. Dec. 9: Surprise session, with Nancy Steele. Dec. 16: Matisse - a Master in Play, with Bethany Garner. Tonight we will cut and apply pre-"fused" cloth bits onto the original hand-dyed fabric supplied by the Instructor. Students will use small, embroidery scissors to create their designs and heat press them to a fabric background - ready to stitch, frame, and display at home. Based on the many hundreds of paper-cuts that Matisse created, your design play will be a great start to all-new, original fibre art.
