Description:

Are your notebooks lined with doodles and drawings? Are you curious about studying art or design in college? Then join us for the brand new Art Bootcamp run as a collaboration between the Art & Design department at George Fox University and the Chehalem Cultural Center.

In this three day series structured as a series of project focused workshops, high school students will have the opportunity to access resources available through the university and the Chehalem Cultural Center, as well as share their work with professors from George Fox who will help them determine areas they can continue to grow in and explore.

Throughout each day, attendees will work alongside some of the top students in the Art & Design department as they explore drawing, graphic design, composition, craft, basic design principles, ceramics and other media. Students of all ability levels will find benefit and opportunity to grow through their participation at this event. Workshops will be designed to help students who have no training as well as those who already have strong skills. Students will walk away having participated in workshops that improve their abilities as well as a greater understanding of how to build a portfolio that will help them gain admission or even receive scholarships from university art & design programs. The workshops will culminate in a group exhibition hosted at the Minthorne Gallery at George Fox University. For many students, this will be the first chance to exhibit work in a gallery context and should provide an opportunity for some great photography as well as an item they might note in their applications.
