Description:
So, you’re a visual artist and you want to show your work...what do you do next? This class will help emerging visual artists (defined broadly as artists with minimal exhibiting experience) to go through the steps necessary in securing exhibition opportunities for their work. During this class, each student will develop an artist statement, and artist bio and CV and put together a practice Exhibition Proposal or an Artwork Submission Packet. If students already have these documents created, it will be an opportunity to refine them and receive feedback. There will be homework required for this course and students are encouraged to bring laptops or tablets/ipads to work on during class. Goals of the Course: -Help students focus their exhibition goals in order to pursue them effectively. -Understand the basics of professional-quality documentation and presentation of work and accompanying image lists. -How to price artwork. -How to have an online presence for artwork/art practice. -How to write an artist Bio and Curriculum Vitae. -How to write an Artist Statement. -How to put together an Exhibition Proposal or Artwork Submission Packet for Open Calls or Juried Exhibits. -How to professionally correspond with exhibitions coordinators and curators. -How to prepare work for exhibition.
