Twice weekly, grades 3-6, who can demonstrate multiple openings, tactics, and checkmates, revel in the intellectual complexity of this advanced chess class. Here, they race against their friends to solve checkmate puzzles, identify discovered attacks, and calculate the profit and loss on complicated piece exchanges. Critical thinking techniques become second-nature as they absorb the strategies of positional chess, pawn structures, piece development, even King-Pawn endgames.

Notes: CIC Live Online Chess Clubs bring a small group of students together for weekly online chess lessons and chess games. CIC Chess to Life Instructors use video conference technology to provide an engaging, interactive learning environment, facilitating insights and building life skills such as decision making, goal setting, emotional intelligence, and respect for others. No physical chess sets are required. Full instructions and links will be sent out to registered students before the class.

Prerequisites: Children are expected to have a strong understanding of strategy in balancing between attack and defense, able to carry out their plans around their opponents' plans.
