Description: The lessons learned from history often become normative for the way we live our lives today. In this course, we will use a feminist interpretation of history, through which new understandings will emerge that empower women to take their true place in modern day society. Using canonical and extra-canonical writings, this interactive course has 2 broad goals: 1. To study the role and reputation of women in the ancient Palestinian and Greco-Roman world and in the early church. 2. To investigate the subsequent decline of the role of women from the period 120 - 400 AD (CE common era).
