Riding Requirement: We require Bike Park Team riders to be riding at an upper intermediate level per their age. This requirement is due to limited staffing and for the safety of all riders. If a rider is not respecting the program, participating or riding at the appropriate level, they may be removed from the program. Refunds will be given for any rider who is removed from the team.
Bike: Any kind of bike can work for bike park team. A mountain bike or dirt jumper with front suspension are best suited for training. BMX bikes work, but are not best for drops and dirt jumps. Many parents bring 2 bikes. Please make sure your bike is up to date on tunes with proper air in the tires, functioning brakes and the correct size bike. Let us know if you need help with any recommendations.
Helmet: Overall, we are working toward constantly progressing your child with nearly all aspects of biking. Riders must wear a helmet with all Crown Mtn Park programming. A full face helmet is always recommended. A half shell works but will not protect a riders face.
Pads: We recommend all riders have elbow pads, shin/knee pads and gloves. Having the option of grabbing pads out of your bag is always a nice sense of comfort.
Food: Please plan to have more calories in the lunch box then normal. We'll burn em all off.
Nervous Parent Instincts: We currently have no research or advice for dealing with kids becoming shredders who push the limits. We can tell you that a trained shredder is safer then an untrained shredder. Maybe close your eyes...?
