Description

For close to 15 years, the Gary Comer Youth Center has been enriching the lives of young people from across Chicago’s South Side. Our goal is to help young people expand their horizons, discover their passions while fostering growth and achievement. Whether your interests lie in technology, the arts, music, journalism, sports or urban agriculture, we offer a safe and supportive environment that you can call your own! This is the place to develop your unique talents, learn, grow and have fun. TEENS: Is your teen a budding journalist, want to become a chef or need some extra help preparing for the ACT exam for college entrance? We’ve got a lot of variety for teenagers to develop their character and learn new skills in a positive and safe environment. They can join Upward Bound, a comprehensive college preparation program where they’ll improve their academics, prepare for standardized tests, have access to college counseling and travel to college campuses for tours and visits with admissions officers. Another great reason for your teen to check us out is to explore the many internships and jobs we offer so they can explore careers and earn income! PRE-TEENS: At GCYC, we’ve got out of school time covered! Your 6th-8th grader can be busy six days a week whether they want to learn to play an instrument, join the robotics team or play more sports, there is always supervised fun after school.
