Description:

A Thoroughly Modern Road Trip:  Modern Landscape Architecture in the U.S. Pacific Northwest 

Crossing the border and beginning in Portland, Spencer W. Stuart will deliver a roadmap to urban parks designed after WWII that have redefined the practice of landscape architecture in North America. From this presentation, attendees will be inspired to hit the road, equipped with the locations of these sites, their historical context as well as the biography of the practitioners that imagined them.

About the speaker:  

Spencer is an experienced Collections Advisor working with new, expanding, mature and de-accessioning collectors throughout the world.

He holds a master’s degree in the History of Art from the Courtauld Institute in London, England (recipient of the Director’s Award).

In concert with his advising, Spencer is an active writer and lecturer on histories of the printed word for a variety of publications including The Book Collector, Manuscripts and Amphora as well as with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
