Description:

Improve your drawing skills for journaling, teaching, or pure enjoyment in this 3-part series. Beginners welcome. Lose your inner critic and shift your creative process in this VanDusen course classic, now offered online via live video demonstrations and presentations. Katharine will teach you how to record nature through illustration. Learn how to create the illusion of depth, and draw accurate observational drawings looking at plants from different aspects. Drawing techniques covered: gestural drawing to capture scale and proportion, contour lines and shapes for precise details, subject colour matching with watercolour wash to create form.

Supplies:

  • Paper Mixed Media sketchbook (Recommended - Strathmore Series 300)
  • Pencils 2B HB 2H (Recommended - Staedtler Mars Lumograph)
  • Eraser
  • Small watercolour box and brush (Recommended - Opus Allegro #2 & 6)
  • Magnifying glass

Subject matter that is seasonal. Clippings from shrubs or trees; dried subjects like seed pods or flower heads; cacti or succulent house plants
