Description:

The Vancouver Avian Research Centre (VARC) and the Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association (VBGA) present this five-session Bird Identification Certificate Program online for the second consecutive year. In this course, you will go in-depth into Bird ID, learning essential foundations such as bird features, behaviours, topography, moulting, and field marks. The instructors' team from VARC will introduce bird songs and the categories of vocalization and bird habitats. You will graduate from this program with a list of equipment, resources, and actions you can take to protect and identify our beloved feathered friends and bring your birding skills to the next level.

Pre-registration required. When signing up for the Bird ID Program, you automatically permit the Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association to share your e-mail address with the Vancouver Avian Research Centre to send you notifications specifically related to the course.

This five-session series will take place online on Tuesdays, starting on April 5th and concluding on May 3rd. Recordings will be available for a limited time to participants.

In addition, you will get the opportunity to practice your newly acquired skills; on May 1, participants will receive a pass to VanDusen Garden for a self-guided tour through hot spots for bird watching and on May 8, VARC will offer a walk at Colony Farm.
