Description:

Chigiri-e is a Japanese art form using pieces of hand-dyed washi paper to create beautiful and detailed images. The result resembles a watercolour painting with a delicate texture. In this hands-on, creative art workshop, you will practice handcrafting skills, learn step-by-step Chigiri-e paper techniques and create two art pieces. Supplies included.

Leanne Lai is an artist and pianist from Taiwan with a passion for using handmade paper to make beautiful things. She started learning the Chigiri-e art form about 21 years ago. Her art exhibitions have been well-received in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and the Vancouver area, including the Harmony Arts Festival Exhibition in 2018 and 2019. Her handmade paper books and cards were sold at the Suho Memorial Paper Museum in Taipei.
