Illustrator and Artist Susan Pearson will guide you with watercolour exercises to explore the season's shifting colours in this two-part series. Whether your subject matter is bright apples, crimson leaves, or autumn foliage (silver twigs and delicate seed heads), you will explore, what Susan calls, the watercolour vocabulary! Her demonstrations and techniques, as well as one on one individual attention, will inspire and prompt you to create beautiful watercolours. This course is suitable for beginners to intermediates. Susan suggests that participants bring the following materials: Paper - Arches 140lb-300lb. cold press watercolour paper, 9” x 12” or larger. Watercolour Paints - Holbein brand: Red (Carmine) Yellow (New Gamboge) Blue (Peacock blue). Can add Olive Green, Opera (hot pink), and Payne’s grey. Detailed Brushes – size 01 for fine detail. A good array of brushes includes sizes 04, 1, 4, and 6. Mixing Palette - plastic or ceramic white surface Sketching – 2b mechanical pencil and white eraser Water – 2 mason jars or 2 yogurt containers Blow Dryer – nice to have for drying paint layers quickly Online pre-registration is required.

Prerequisites: VBGA's COVID-19 Protocol: We require all VBGA in-person education program participants to be fully vaccinated. You may be asked to provide the BC Vaccine Card for entrance into the program. Masks are required indoors. You can take off your mask when eating and drinking and put it back on afterward.
