Description:

Learn how to draw plants from an aesthetic and botanical perspective while improving your observation and artistic skills. This 3-session course is ideal for those with some drawing experience, and will focus on drawing with pen and ink. Instructor Katharine Dickinson will guide students through scale and perspective, accurate line and shape, tonal variation, and detail techniques. Online education includes presentations, live front view, and overhead demonstrations. Recordings of classes will be available for each week. For this class, participants are encouraged to have the following materials at home:

Suggested Supplies:

- 11x14 multimedia sketchbook
- 2H, HB and 2B pencils
- Eraser
- Cool Grey Ink Liner pen 0.1 size
- Black ink liner 0.05, 0.5 sizes
- White drawing ink (e.g. Winsor & Newton)
- Speedball pen and flexible nib #512 (e.g. Opus)
- Black drawing ink
- Size 8 round brush with a point (e.g. Opus Allegro)
- Mixed Media - Toned Blue (Strathmore 9x12" – can buy in sheets if a whole book is too much)
Subjects:
- Seasonal flowers or images of flowers (e.g. daffodil flowers or bulb, hellebore, etc)

This course will take place online, and will be recorded. Registered participants will have access to recordings for a limited time. Pre-registration required.
