Description:

This ten-part series will support K-7 teachers eager to consider the possibilities of teaching across the curriculum in their Westcoast school garden. Sessions will be held online, with a possibility for hybrid learning at VanDusen Gardens, depending on COVID-19 restrictions. Participants are not required to attend any sessions in-person to participate in the series. Any sessions held on-site will also be live streamed for participants who prefer to remain at home.

Each month we will look at timely tasks that help keep our gardens growing, as well as specific curricular connections and practical management tips for teaching outdoors. Seasonal resources will be shared, and participants are encouraged to share their own success stories and challenges to broaden our collective expertise!

Sign up for the entire series to become a part of our professional learning community! Each session will be 90 minutes long and cover the following topics:

  • September 23, 2020: School garden basics including set up & start up, weeds, & timely tasks.
