New Projects!

Students will learn the stages of creating clay art, beginning with sketching their project ideas before creating them in clay. They will be introduced to many different techniques of hand-building. With this knowledge, students can choose to create a variety of projects, Six-to-ten-year-olds can make pinch pot creatures, a lidded coil pot, animal mask, and a leaf print bowl; older students can create a pocket wall hanging mask, a pinch pot bank or animal planter, and a coil clay weaving. Students will complete 3 glazed pieces (fired twice), and 6 painted pieces that have been fired once.  

Students will supply an inexpensive sketch pad (any size), one roll of paper towels, and a smock.
