Description :

This is an easy-going, early learning program for children ages 3-5 and their parents/caregivers. It provides participants and their caregivers the opportunity to gather together in the Library (or in the courtyard outside the Library due to ongoing Covid-19 safety precautions), to engage with nature-themed children’s books, and to explore seasonal topics with age-appropriate activities.

* Older/younger siblings can be accommodated; however, the program is designed for early learners. Please send a message to library@vandusen.org if you would like to bring along younger children, or check out our website for our many garden programs aimed at older ages.

PLEASE NOTE: When signing up, make sure to register ALL members of your group (ie. ALL adults and ALL children who will attend).

The theme for June is Trees.

Join us to learn about the Tree-mendous Trees around us! As a special treat this month, our Indigenous Initiatives Coordinator, Geronimo Alec will join us to share drumming and stories about trees from his heritage. We will also  do a tree-themed art project for you to take home.

Notes : Supervision of children is the responsibility of the parent or caregiver at all times. Due to continuing safety precautions around Covid-19, this program will be limited to 8 family groupings so register early to make sure you have a spot! Preschool Storytime sessions are free of charge, but registration of all members of your group (children and adults) is required. Please dress everyone for the weather as we will be gathering outside, under cover, for this program. Rubber boots, raincoats and warm clothing highly recommended to keep everyone comfortable. And, of course, we will never be too far from the Visitor Centre where you can find family washrooms, change stations, and head to the Garden Café for a warm cup of coffee/hot chocolate after the program. Please read the VBGA Covid policies before registering: • Although masks are no longer required, people encouraged welcome to wear them in all indoor locations. • Please respect other people’s personal space.
