Register for this option to attend both the All About Birds! Family Program ($10.00 + tax for non-members) AND the VARC Hummingbird Banding session ($5.00 + tax for non-members). Join us on July 9th from 4pm-5pm for All About Birds! a family-friendly program featuring fun activities exploring the many feathered friends that call VanDusen Botanical Garden home. Your birdwatching walk will be guided by our Education Director and avid bird-lover, Chantal Martin, who will share tips and tricks for birdwatching as a family, along with fun and informative games and activities. This exclusive afterhours evening will continue with an informative and fascinating session of Songbird & Hummingbird Banding from 5pm -7pm. Vancouver Avian Research Centre (VARC) team members will be conducting conservation field work in the Bird Garden while engaging in informal conversations about issues facing wild bird populations, and ways you can get involved and take action to support local birds in your own backyard. For more information on VARC and its activities please visit their website: www.birdvancouver.com All About Birds! Family Program will run rain or shine. However, for the safety of the birds, the Hummingbird and Songbird Banding session may be cancelled if conditions are rainy, in which case, you will receive notification by email the morning of the session. If your banding session is cancelled, you will be give priority registration to the next banding session or offered a refund for ONLY the banding session fee ($5+tax for non-members). Please read the cancellation policy below before registering. Please purchase a registration for every person in your group (all adults & children) to reserve enough spots in this limited-availability program.

Notes : This program is for all-ages families (children will need to be supervised by parents/caregivers at all times). Please note there can be long wait times during banding sessions so please consider this factor before registering younger children. Please bring folding/camp chairs with you as the evening involves relaxing in the evening garden while waiting for the birds. Cancelation policy: No refunds are given for the Birdwatching Basics Guided Walk as it will run rain or shine. If a banding session is cancelled, you will be give priority registration to the next month's banding session OR offered a refund for ONLY the banding session fee ($5+tax for non-members). Refunds will only be given in the event the VBGA cancels the program, not for no-shows as this is a popular program with limited spots. For cancellations with one week's notice, a credit will be applied to your account. Less than a week's notice, no credit will be given. No new credit will be issued if the cancelled course was purchased using prior credit. Credits are good for 1 year from the date issued. All requests for cancellations must be made in writing to learn@vandusen.org Covid-19 Policy: Please do not visit the Garden or attend VBGA in-person programs if you are feeling unwell or are experiencing Covid-19 symptoms. Masks are recommended when in close proximity to others.
