Description

At Homeschool House, students are not merely participants. We deliberately cultivate leadership, stewardship, and independence. Our mornings offer core education classes of ELAR and Math on Mondays and Wednesdays, with History with integrated STEM and Math on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting with the Morning Meeting, where we discuss the primary learning targets for the day. Academic activities include the children working together or dividing into small groups for teacher instruction, independent work, or collaborative studies. Even our youngest students are able to develop independent and collaborative study skills. To every extent possible we use hands-on-learning methods for primary instruction over digital. Halfway through our morning we exercise our bodies in PE with a focus on having fun with playground games and practicing good sportsmanship. After morning academics we have lunch & recess. Weather permitting we ensure all students are outside to enjoy our 1.5 acre property. They play games learned in PE, explore nature, read, draw, or just sit and enjoy the day. Our afternoon enrichment classes offer students the opportunity to learn focused topics in small groups through hands-on activities wherever possible. Enrichment classes are 2 1 hour classes divided by 30 minutes of structured social time. At Homeschool House, children receive high quality academic instruction and, most importantly, they are in an environment that values growth beyond metrics.
