Description:

This course builds on the basic knowledge of navigation theory presented in the Sail Canada Basic Coastal Navigation Standard. The curriculum focus is on near shore navigation and covers position determination methods using nonelectronic means as well as methods for dealing with current and leeway. Students completing this course will have practiced and should understand the tools and techniques to support planning and safe passage making for coastal voyages.

Sail Canada exam may be written at the conclusion of the course.

Parallel rules and dividers will be required for this course. Students may use their practice chart from Basic Nav or purchase a new chart in our store. 

This course is recommended for those who intend to bare boat charter.

Notes: Cancelation and Refund Policy – Classroom courses For classroom courses, one date change will be allowed within the same season, up to 14 days prior to the course start date free of charge. Re-booking based on course availability. For cancellations more than 30 days prior to the start of an classroom course, fees will be refunded, less 15% cancellation fee and the price of any distributed course materials. (ie: Text books) For cancellations 10-30 days prior to the course start date, 25% of the course fee will be retained plus the price of any distributed course materials. For cancellation within 10 days of the course start date or after the course has started, there will be no refunds.
