Ready for the next step in your sailing training? Interested in the live-aboard experience?

Intermediate Keelboat Cruising (from Humber Bay) is offered as a five-day, 4 night live-aboard course sailing on “Spotted Drum” a Catalina 42 MKII.

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to cruise safely and efficiently on a sloop-rigged sailing yacht of up to 12 metres in moderate wind and sea conditions by day. This course emphasizes on-the-water skills at a level acceptable for bare boat chartering for extended cruises in coastal waters. Your on-water ability will be assessed against the afloat skills required for the Sail Canada Intermediate Cruising Standard.

Intermediate Cruising Theory is included with this course and is completed in the classroom or online prior to the start of the Afloat Course.

VHF ROC (M) and Basic Coastal Navigation must be successfully completed in order to receive your intermediate certification. Please contact HBSC if you have not yet completed the prerequisite courses. 

Deposit of 50% is due upon registration - remainder due 45 days prior to afloat course start.
Includes ashore & afloat classes, course materials & Sail Canada registration. (provisioning for the week is not included).
All courses start at 10:00am on day one of the course and conclude at 4:00pm on day five. Each course has 2 berths + salon available for students, allocated in the order that students register. 

Discount available for 2nd person in a shared berth. Discount automatically applied at registration when 2 people register from the same account. If not registering from the same account - contact education@hbsailing.com for assistance.

Students who have already completed the Intermediate theory should contact HBSC to register for the afloat only. Discounts apply for student who completed theory with HBSC. (50% of theory fee paid)

Prerequisites: Basic Keelboat Cruising* ROC(M) VHF Basic Coastal Navigation* *Or equivalent experience. Intermediate course may be taken by anyone ready to sail at the intermediate level, however the preceding SC level exams must be challenged to received to Intermediate Certification.
