Mud Club provides a supportive, nurturing environment in which each child is valued as their true unique self. We have a child-led emergent curriculum. While our main focus is on social and emotional development, which we nurture during mostly free play time, we also provide more structured learning activities that are chosen based on careful observation of the children’s interests and the natural world around us. These more adult directed activities are always optional and at each child's discretion if they are interested, these include story time, sensory bins, process-oriented art projects, nature learning activities, academic learning prompts, hikes, and more.
Each Mud Club Summer Camp runs Monday through Friday throughout the summer with the options of signing up from 9am - 12pm, 12pm - 3pm or both.
Our day is spent outside as much as possible, but we do have an indoor space prepared in case the weather is dangerous or uncomfortable. Our outdoor space includes access to a large yard with beautiful trees that provide shade when it is warm, and large branches to swing from. We also have a huge porch to take shelter from any rain or lightning while still being able to breathe in fresh air. We have access to a creek where we feed ducks, create mud cakes, and splash till our heart's content. We are located across the creek from the Farmers Market, across the street from the library, near the rail trail, close to a few hiking trails, across the creek from Links bike shop where we visit goats and chickens, and within walking distance to a few other natural areas that we access regularly. We provide plenty of loose parts, a mud kitchen, age-appropriate learning materials and activities, and tons of art materials that will capture the interest of the children in our care.
