Description :

Water and carbon are necessary for life, but where do they come from and how do they move through the environment in different forms?

In this program, we will learn all about the water cycle with a dice game, and we will make a watershed model to learn about the flow of water and how it might get polluted by different industries. We will also discuss plant stomata and the vital role of plants in carbon cycling. Finally, we will complete a water quality survey, looking at factors like dissolved oxygen, temperature, turbidity, and pH.

This program covers BC Science curriculum including:

  • The nature of sustainable practices around BC’s resources

  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of evidence

  • Identify some of the social, ethical, and environmental implications of the findings from their own and others’ investigations 

  • Compare data with predictions and develop explanations for results 

  • Observe, measure, andrecord data (qualitative and quantitative), using equipment, including digital technologies, with accuracy and precision
