Description:

Learn or revisit the fundamental techniques of centering, pulling, shaping, and trimming.  The purpose of this class is to gain confidence and proficiency in your basic throwing skills!  For the first week the pressure will be off as you follow the instructor's demonstrations and practice with reclaimed (classroom) clay, keeping nothing. In the next 6 weeks, you will move on to throw and trim the pieces that will be glazed, fired, and taken home.  You will learn about glazing throughout the session, with the final class spent glazing the majority of your pieces.

A variety of pieces will be made including bowls, cups, and mugs, however, the focus of this class is on gaining consistency and some height in throwing a cylinder, as from the cylinder, all other shapes can be made - even plates!  

Classes are 3 hours each for 9 weeks.
