Description:
Thursday | 3/28/24 | 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM | Upstairs Gallery 401 West Main Street Suggested for ages 14 and up Join us for a writing workshop based on the works in the exhibition, "Southern (?) Women" with Heather Henson. Heather Henson, an award-winning author and managing director of Pioneer Playhouse, Kentucky's oldest outdoor theatre, considers herself a Kentucky writer and believes in creating strong female characters that defy stereotypes. Henson talks about the importance of place and voice in her own writing, encouraging participants to think about ways to express a sense of self on paper. Heather Henson was born and raised in Danville. She lived in New York City for seventeen years where she was an editor of children's books at HarperCollins Publishers. She returned to Kentucky to focus on her own writing and to help run Pioneer Playhouse, which her father founded in 1950. She is the author of several award-winning novels and picture books, including THAT BOOK WOMAN, which has been adapted into a play and will be staged at Pioneer Playhouse during their 75th season this summer. For all programming, our new policy in regards to refunds is the following: With a doctor’s note, we will provide a full credit for classes that are missed.
