Description:

In this active, experiential summer program, campers will get their hands dirty and become gardeners, famers, conservationists, biodiversity experts and food justice leaders using their school garden as a centre for learning.

Highlights include:

  • Growing vegetables and herbs;
  • Planting wildflowers for pollinators;
  • Learning about planting crops important to diverse cultures;
  • Managing and maintaining a compost;
  • Making terrarium habitats;
  • Creating eco-crafts and public space art;
  • Writing a community cookbook;
  • Developing leadership and entrepreneurial skills'
  • Hands-on workshops on urban agriculture, sustainability, conservations, food systems & security, climate change, and health & wellness;
  • Service-learning projects benefitting school and community at large

Campers will come away with 21st century skills and qualities including collaboration, communication, growth mindset, creativity, problem-solving, initiative and leadership, as well as a deeper sense of community, environmental stewardship, and local and global citizenship.

Price: $500.00 Taxes waived

Required age: 9 - 13 as of 12/31/2024

Notes: Lunch is included for all summer camp registrations. Our dining room provides healthy and delicious meals with a variety of choices. Special dietary needs are supported by our Food Services team.
