Description:

This course will be offered in an asynchronous (virtual) learning format, using MS Teams as the platform for audio and video conferencing.

Students have an introductory session with the teacher online through a scheduled MS Teams meeting and then continue on the credit in a self-paced manner.

Students work at their own pace based on an organized index to complete the required assignments by August 20th. 

Course Description:
This course introduces students to information and communication technology in a business environment and builds a foundation of digital literacy skills necessary for success in a technologically driven society. Students will develop word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, presentation software, and website design skills. Throughout the course, there is an emphasis on digital literacy, effective electronic research and communication skills, and current issues related to the impact of information and communication technology.

Note: There will not be any classes on Monday, July 1st due to the Canada Day holiday and Monday, August 5th due to the Ontario Civic Holiday. 

Note: Because this course is part of the Ontario Business Studies curriculum, and not the Technological Education curriculum, it does not fulfill the mandatory technological education course requirement that students must complete before the end of grade 10.

Prerequisites: This course is designed to allow students to learn and master all of the software platforms that students will need to know in order to be successful in the Senior School at Ashbury College. It is especially advantageous for students who are new to Ashbury as it will make the transition into Grade 9 in September considerably easier. Note: Because this course is part of the Ontario Business Studies curriculum, and not the Technological Education curriculum, it does not fulfill the mandatory technological education course requirement that students must complete before the end of grade 10.
