Description:

Last day of Registration May 30th

This one-day tournament will have a round-robin bracket for seeding, followed by a single elimination playoff bracket. Round-robin matches will be best of-one, rally scoring, to 15. The playoff bracket will be side out scoring to 15, best of one. The championship match will be side out scoring 15, best of three. The tournament will be using the WOOSH system. This is a non-sanctioned event with ratings not considered. Ages 15 and up (Must sign Youth Activity Wavier.) Co-Ed teams are allowed.  Matches will be self-officiated.

Registration is set up as team Captains. The team captain needs to create the team and then invite the players after the registration is completed.

WOOSH System

Rally Scoring to 15 points, Side-out on winning point.

A point is scored on every rally, awarded to the team that wins that rally along with the subsequent serve. There is only one server per round. Side-out scoring is implemented on the penultimate point (See rule #3).

1) The serving side is determined by the new score of the serving team (Right side = 0, 2, 4, … and Left side = 1, 3, 5, …)

2) Should the serving team win a point on that rally, that player will continue to serve, switching sides with their partner to correspond with the even or odd number of the new score. Should the serving team lose the rally, the serve is turned over to the opposing team. There is no second server, but the fair possibility exists for all players to have a chance to serve during the game.

3) When a team reaches 14 points, they are “frozen” at that score, only able to win the final point on a serve (Side-out). The trailing team will continue with rally scoring. Should they also reach a score of 14, they will become frozen as well.

4) Since 14 is an even number, the ball will be served from the right side, every time. The player on the left side can serve, but it must be done from the right side, in which case you will need to stack.

5) There is no ‘Let Serve’. Should the ball touch the net during a serve: if it lands ‘in’, continue play. If it lands ‘out’, you lose the serve.

The first team to gain the 15th point wins!
