Description:

Do you have a passion for theatre, design, or self-expression? Are you curious about what goes on backstage and behind-the-scenes? Join us for our inaugural Stage & Play: Teen Theatre Workshop series to discover and develop new skills in the theatre arts.

Workshops are led by trained professionals in the field and are open to all levels: all are welcome and no experience necessary. Wear clothes you can move in comfortably and pack a snack and be ready to explore!

Workshops include:

Live from the CCC! Improv & Theatre Games. 
Taking a leaf from beloved sketchy comedy show Saturday Night Light, students will learn theatre games, improv exercises, and tips & tricks of sketch comedy to loosen up and find joy and confidence in the unknown 

Ace the Audition: Techniques & Tips.
Sharing tips and tricks of acting, focused on the audition process. Students will gain confidence as they tackle monologues and cold readings.

Who Tells Your Story: Playwriting as Storytelling. 
Utilizing the endless possibilities of playwriting and theatre to help students write and tell their own stories, fiction or non-fiction, in narrative form.

Make the Magic: The Artistry of Theatre Design. 
Students will examine the cornerstones of great theatre scenic design before using an array of creative means and arts & crafts supplies to design their own Broadway play or musical.

Physical Theatre: Circus, Comedy, & Combat.
Students will tap into their funny bone as they learn the tricks of physical comedy and light-hearted stage combat, with a touch of circus mayhem!

Required age: 11 - 18 on the day of the activity

Prerequisites: PLEASE NOTE: When registering for camp, young artists must register as the grade they completed in the 2018/19 academic calendar.
