Description:
We will begin by working on pre-warped looms so that the students can get experience in using the RH loom before beginning their own projects. Basics such as winding a shuttle, direct warping, hemstitching, how to keep even selvedges, and how to beat will be covered. We will also look at weaving terms (WPI, PPI, YPP, dent, heddle), how to pick the right yarn for your project, calculating amounts of yarn needed, and how to troubleshoot problems. In the second half of the class, each student will plan a simple project, warp their own loom, and weave start to finish.Supplies for the first 3 classes will be provided. Students will supply yarn for their personal projects. Supply Fee: $20 (Collected by Instructor) Initial Supply List: ● Measuring tape ● Scissors ● Notepad & writing tool ● Calculator (in phone or otherwise) Supply List for project: yarn of the correct amount and type for the student’s project.
