Speech & The Bible is a class designed to teach students oral communication skills in the area of public speaking.  A clear, step-by-step plan will be given for planning, writing and delivering speeches.  Students will be taught approximately 17 speech ethics, along with 12 different types of speeches.  The Bible will be used as the central theme of thought, study and example for the purpose of excellence.  It will be the tool to make each student more complete in the inner person in order to speak boldly, and to also aid in setting the student free from learned insecurities.  The main goal of class is to transfer a poise and confidence to the young speaker along with the knowledge of the solidity of absolute truth and the ability to express it.  Other goals are to increase self-worth, learn control of fear, practice professional delivery, to increase a vision of personal potential, and to learn proper etiquette and response to others.  Exercises in the book of Proverbs and small Bible studies will be given.

Strict guidelines will be set for the class and students will be speaking almost every week.  Parents will be given a definite time to come and observe progress.  This is a full year course, one that demands no tardiness in order to fit each student into the speaking schedule.
