Description:

Inch & Miles: A Journey in Character Education

Taught by Jessica Canseco

Give them an inch and they’ll take it miles!

Your scholars will journey along with Inch, the worm, and Miles, the mouse, from the book Inch and Miles by Coach John Wooden, to discover the blocks of the Pyramid of Success. Throughout your scholars’ journey, we will be meeting characters that will teach your scholars valuable lessons, attributes and important life skills. We will focus on how these attributes, lessons and life skills will not only help us be at our personal best, but also help us to be servants for God and build a strong moral foundation.  Through a combination of hands-on activities, games, and engaging discussions, your  scholars will develop attributes and skills that they can confidently apply to our everyday lives, all while tying it back to God’s Word.

Our theme scripture for our class will be:

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it.

Proverbs 22:6

If you and your scholar would like to follow along and continue applying the lessons at home, here is the link for the book: Inch and Miles

Jr. Scientists

Taught by Jessica Morlan

In this class, your scholar will experience the joy of science! Students will investigate weather, matter, animals, and plants through hands-on activities. They will explore the building blocks of science through STEM activities, simple experiments, and science projects. We will focus on understanding the scientific method and how to apply it to our everyday lives. Your students will build confidence in asking questions, making observations, and forming new ideas as junior scientists!

Games and Movement

Taught by Celeste Miller

In Games & Movement students will engage in physical activities that activate their gross motor skills, i.e. running, jumping, hopping, catching, balance, and overall body control. Games played will exercise listening skills, following multi-step instructions, coordination, and individual discipline. By way of God's Word, students will learn the importance of biblical lessons through healthy competition, endeavoring as a team, and the fruit produced through player cooperation and sportsmanship. Above all, Games & Movement is big fun, big games, big movements, all for the glory of God.
