Location: The REC Stage/Class | 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, TX, 76051

Description:

This study is being done to determine if intensive lowering of systolic blood pressure (the top number), using FDA approved medications to treat high blood pressure, reduces Alzheimer’s Disease pathology (i.e., excessive brain amyloid and tau protein deposition) in older adults at high risk for memory decline or dementia. There is some evidence that high blood pressure is associated with higher brain amyloid and tau deposition and altered brain network connectivity in adults over the age of 60. However, whether lowering blood pressure would slow or prevent progression of brain amyloid and tau deposition and improve brain function is inconclusive. The researchers hope to learn whether intensive blood pressure management may reduce Alzheimer’s Disease pathology.
