Description:
Advanced Camp - Sandhills is an adventure-packed five days of exploring one of North Carolina's most fascinating areas. Resembling what the southeastern U.S. looked like 200 years ago, the Sandhills region of our state still supports many unusual and endangered species. We will radio-track Northern Pine Snakes and Eastern Coachwhip snakes on the game lands, watch endangered Red-cockaded Woodpeckers as they forage among towering old growth Longleaf Pines, wade into a wild Carolina Bay where an egret and Anhinga rookery continues to thrive, canoe paddle a section of the scenic Lumber River and actively observe a controlled burn in progress. Many other unusual experiences await us on this immersive trip; please reach out to us for additional details. Advanced Campers will be primitive camping on an 1800's historic farm in the Sandhills of NC.
