Description:

Middle school students will have a blast with fun, educational challenges at Geo/Chem Camp! From observing rapid borax crystal formation, building a hydrogen fuel cell model car, to extracting their own DNA using common household supplies, participants will gain greater understandings of geology and chemistry during this two-day experience. Eight geo/chem experiments serve as leads into group activities and hikes on the trails that examine contemporary environmental challenges. Participants need to bring a lunch, snacks, and a water bottle and be dressed for the weather and outdoor activity. Participants also need to bring a basic calculator and a digital camera. Cell phone use will be limited to these functions during the program.

Required age: 12 - 15 on the day of the activity
