Q, Inc. and Quivira Recreation Association’s Summer Recreation Program is committed to shaping
young minds in our community through fun, educational, and character-building experiences.

Registration Fee - $30 per child. Will be chit in June as "QRA Registration".

*Students are eligible for a class if they will turn the allotted age for the class by August 31st of the current year. We ask that you please be respectful of the age restrictions for every class. Age guidelines exist for the greater well-being of the group children in the class, as well as for safety.

Participants can be added to a waitlist if classes reach capacity.

Schedule Format - All classes are Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs, unless noted.

Your participant’s schedule will be what they are enrolled in for the duration of the program.

Refund Policy - No refunds issued after classes begin.

Class Check In - The drop off/pick up location will be in front of The Q. An instructor will take participants to the class area and return them to The Q after class. For the safety of all, please adhere to the entrance and exit guidelines of the main parking lot.

Participants are responsible for knowing their class schedule and getting themselves to check in.

Participants should bring a healthy, packed lunch in an insulated container labeled with their name.

Any food allergies need to be made known to directors and staff.

Personal Items:

Participants need to come with a backpack they can manage throughout the day.

Items will NOT be allowed to be stored inside The Q/youth classrooms.

All personal items, including water bottles, swimsuits, towels, etc. MUST be labeled with the child’s first and last names.

Class Length - All classes are 50 minutes unless otherwise noted.

Rain Policy – Classes cancelled due to inclement weather will not be made up. Outdoor classes will

have the option of watching movies at The Q in the Youth Classrooms during inclement weather.

Indoor classes will continue as space allows or have the option of watching movies.

Sunscreen – Please be sure participants come with sunscreen applied. Staff can help with reapplication of sunscreen for afternoon classes if needed.

ALL swim classes must BYOT (bring your own towel – it is suggested to have your participant’s towel embroidered with their name or initials).

Please do not send your child to Summer Recreation class if they are not feeling well or have been exposed to potentially communicable illness.

4 and 5 year old Mini-Camp participants must be 4 or 5 years old by June 10th, 2024.

Participants in Babysitting must be a minimum age by June 10th, 2024.

What are the dates for Summer Rec this year?
Monday, June 10 – Thursday, July 18, with the last day of formal/scheduled class on Wednesday, July 17, and “Fun Day” on Thursday, July 18.
When and what is the Ice Cream Social?
Join us, on Friday, June 7th from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm for the kickoff to Summer Rec! This a complimentary event for all participants of Summer Rec and does not need a ticket or registration.

What ages are applicable to participate?
Summer Rec is available to those aged 6 (by 8/31/24), through age 13.
Mini Camp is for 4 and 5-year-old participants who are 4 or 5 years old by Monday, June 10th, 2024.
How big are the classes?
Class size depends on the class. Some classes cap as big as 50!

What happens on “Fun Day”, the last day of Summer Rec, Thursday, July 18?
Summer Rec's "Fun Day" is the very last day of Summer Rec, Thursday, July 18th.
Regular classes will NOT be held and all activities END at 12:00 pm, noon.
This day is "open", and participants are not in their everyday classes. Staff is onsite, running
events, and participants are supervised in that context. *If your participant needs more direct
supervision, please join your child and us for this day of Summer Rec fun!
Projected Fun Day Schedule:
9:00 am -10:00 am Triathlon for Triathlon Class and Summer Rec Participants
Kids may sign up individually or as a team. The cost is $5 per participant if they were NOT enrolled in
the Triathlon Class. Your child MUST be able to swim unassisted in the lake. The Summer Rec
Triathlon involves swimming from the Courtesy Docks, around the Beach Docks to the beach
shore, biking from the beach parking lot to the end of Hillcrest East, and back down to the beach
parking lot, followed by running past the Pro Shop, Q, Inc., the Clubhouse, and then down and back
across the dam to the finish line!
Fun games, a water slide and snow cones to end the day!
*Mini Camp participants usually need a little more direct supervision, so please feel free to join
your child and us for this day of Summer Rec fun!
