Description:
One Week Only: July 15 - 19 Beach, Birds, and Biology Spend the week learning about our feathered friends that live, breed, and migrate through Long Beach Island and the surrounding areas of the “Jersey Shore.” Guided by experts from Conserve Wildlife Foundation, children will participate in hands-on experiences authentic to the work of ornithologists. From collecting nesting data of osprey and oystercatchers to the thrill of getting “up close and personal” with raptors during a live wildlife show, campers will gain insights into bird behavior and conservation efforts. On the final day, campers will visit a special nesting site near Barnegat Light. Here, they will spend an afternoon exploring the beach and engaging in activities such as using spotting scopes for a chance to observe endangered species of beach nesting birds in their natural habitat.
