Primary Foundation JAZZ & TAP Combined Class

In Jazz, students will begin to use the skills mastered at the Junior Level simultaneously. This includes positions of the arms and feet, travelling steps, combinations, and isolations. In Tap, students will further develop the basics and progress to include more intricate footwork, rhythm, and speed. In particular, in Primary Foundation Tap students will be introduced to eighth notes throughout a variety of more complex steps. Further, in Primary Foundation students further develop their awareness of rhythm and counting, body awareness, and self-expression. This class includes the building blocks for the progression to a variety of dance disciplines in future years.

The Primary Foundation Jazz & Tap syllabus focuses on developing students understanding and execution of the rudiments of Jazz and Tap in preparation for the Primary Technical Examinations. Our instructors create a disciplined, positive and supportive environment where all students can discover the joy of accomplishment.

Combined Syllabus of Jazz and Tap Including: Warm-Up, Barre, Floor and Center Practice, Skills Progressions, Music Appreciation, Dance Study, Showcase Routine, Cool Down and Révérence. 

Performance: London has organized multiple performance and demonstration opportunities for students, to build confidence and to gain experience of dance outside of the studio.  Please ensure that you support your child in these opportunities as they are an important part of their dance training.

Student COMMENCEMENT Showcase Gala - Friday, June 21, 2024

Student COMMENCEMENT - Saturday, June 22 - 13:00.  This is an important day for all students as it formally acknowledges a year of dedication and learning completion.  Please ensure your child participates in the milestone day!

Uniform: The visual appearance of a dancer is as much a part of the art of Dance as the movement itself. Classroom attire is particularly important. It must allow the dancer complete freedom to experience movement while maintaining safety. It must also allow the instructor and observer the opportunity to view the alignment of the body and the movement itself. At the London School of Dance, we maintain a strict policy regarding the wearing of regulation uniforms and correct grooming. Please see below for the required uniform for this level.
