Grade 3 BALLET

A student that successfully completes Grade 3 will have the ability to perform movements with accurate alignment, weight placement, stretched legs, and articulated footwork. In Free Movement, the student will be able to perform simple steps with free-flowing movement, use of space, and coordination of the whole body showing an understanding of weight transfer, use of gravity, suspension at the climax of a movement, and controlled landings. In Character, the student will be able to execute simple steps showing a firm hold of the body, upper back, and head, correct arm and hand placement, use of fondu, and articulated footwork relevant to the style. Finally, the student will perform with correct and accurate timing and appropriate response to music with varied rhythmic structures.

Syllabus:  Warm-Up, 5 Barre Exercises, Floor Exercises, 2 Center Practices, Adage Enchainement, 4 Allegro Exercises, Grand Allegro Enchainement, Choice of Classical Variation for Males/Females, Skills Progressions, Music Appreciation, Dance Study, Showcase Routine, Cool Down, and Révérence.

Performance: London has organized multiple performance and demonstration opportunities for students, to build confidence and to gain experience of dance outside of the studio.  Please ensure that you support your child in these opportunities as they are an important part of their dance training.

Student COMMENCEMENT - Saturday, June 22 - 14:15.  This is an important day for all students as it formally acknowledges a year of dedication and learning completion.  Please ensure your child participates in the milestone day!

Uniform: The visual appearance of a dancer is as much a part of the art of Dance as the movement itself. Classroom attire is particularly important. It must allow the dancer complete freedom to experience movement while maintaining safety. It must also allow the instructor and observer the opportunity to view the alignment of the body and the movement itself. At the London School of Dance, we maintain a strict policy regarding the wearing of regulation uniforms and correct grooming. Please see below for the required uniform for this level.
