Grade 4 ACROBATICS

In Grade 4 Acrobatics, emphasis will be placed on proper hand placement and body alignment. Students will focus on learning not just technique, but what muscles and flexibility are needed to execute that technique. Classes will be divided into two parts. This is to include Body Conditioning and Skills Development. In Conditioning; students will strengthen all muscle groups and improve their flexibility, control, and endurance. Following this, students will practice; 'back over from lifted leg to kneel split and back bend,' 'back bend to hand balance,' and split with back bend catching,' and 'bending back leg rolled into single toe clutch.' In addition, students will be introduced to 'one-handed front walkovers' and 'hand springs.' Finally, at this level, students will begin to practice combinations containing 3 tricks.

Syllabus:  Cardio, Warm Up, 3 Barre Exercises, 3 Center Practice Exercises, 8 Set Tricks, 2 Danced Link Combinations, Wrist and Shoulders Stretches, Handstand and Balances, Bridges, Limbering, Tumbling, Partnering, Flexibility, Cool Down, Révérence, and Theory.  A Showcase Routine will also be presented.

Performance: London has organized multiple performance and demonstration opportunities for students, to build confidence and to gain experience of dance outside of the studio.  Please ensure that you support your child in these opportunities as they are an important part of their dance training.

Student COMMENCEMENT Showcase Gala - Friday, June 21, 2024

Student COMMENCEMENT - Saturday, June 22 - 14:15.  This is an important day for all students as it formally acknowledges a year of dedication and learning completion.  Please ensure your child participates in the milestone day!

Uniform:  The visual appearance of a dancer is as much a part of the art of Dance as the movement itself. Classroom attire is particularly important. It must allow the dancer complete freedom to experience movement while maintaining safety. It must also allow the instructor and observer the opportunity to view the alignment of the body and the movement itself. At the London School of Dance, we maintain a strict policy regarding the wearing of regulation uniforms and correct grooming. Please see below for the required uniform for this level.
