Grade 5 BALLET

Grade 5 Ballet is the final level of the  RAD’s Graded syllabi. The knowledge and skills gained through successful completion of this level provide a basis for progression to subsequent RAD Vocational levels and Vocational Examinations.

This is Year 1 of a 2 Year program.  This year, students will focus on learning their syllabus and strengthening their technique. Students at this level should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the fundamental and relevant techniques required for this preVocational level.  In addition, students will be able to exhibit coordination, control, and accuracy in a range of sequences and perform with an awareness of line and space. Further, they will be able to execute a range of movements within different rhythmical frameworks with an awareness of phrasing and appropriate use of musical dynamics.

Syllabus:  Warm-Up, Barre, Floor and Center Practice, Skills Progressions, Music Appreciation, Dance Study, Showcase Routine, Cool Down, and Révérence.

Performance: London has organized multiple performance and demonstration opportunities for students, to build confidence and to gain experience of dance outside of the studio.  Please ensure that you support your child in these opportunities as they are an important part of their dance training.

Student COMMENCEMENT - Saturday, June 22 - 14:15.  This is an important day for all students as it formally acknowledges a year of dedication and learning completion.  Please ensure your child participates in the milestone day!

Uniform: The visual appearance of a dancer is as much a part of the art of Dance as the movement itself. Classroom attire is particularly important. It must allow the dancer complete freedom to experience movement while maintaining safety. It must also allow the instructor and observer the opportunity to view the alignment of the body and the movement itself. At the London School of Dance, we maintain a strict policy regarding the wearing of regulation uniforms and correct grooming. Please see below for the required uniform for this level.

Prerequisites: Recommended for students starting 11+ years old with previous experience. This is a good level for older students , new to Ballet, to begin at. Please consult with Admissions for your personal Class Advisement.
