Grade 5 ACROBATICS

Acrobatics is a combination of dance and gymnastics. In LGrade 5 Acrobatics, dancers will learn how to properly develop acrobatic and gymnastics skills. With an emphasis on strength and flexibility. With unique exercises and choreography; students will learn to seamlessly blend dance and acrobatics as seen in such places as Cirque du Soleil. This class will also improve students turning tumbling skills by increasing foot and ankle strength. Which creates more power and promotes proper landing technique. At this level, students will develop skills such as 'continuous font and backovers,' 'waterfalls,' and 'neck springs.' In addition, students will work to increase their strength for 'elbow balance variations,' 'head balances from standing into the forward roll,' and 'head balances into a back roll into toes to head.' Finally, in Grade 5 Acrobatics, students will advance basic tricks that they have learned from the previous grades.

Syllabus:  Cardio, Warm Up, Wrist and Shoulders Stretches, Handstand and Balances, Bridges, Limbering, Tumbling, Partnering, Flexibility, Cool Down, Révérence, and Theory.  A Showcase Routine will also be presented.

Performance: London has organized multiple performance and demonstration opportunities for students, to build confidence and to gain experience of dance outside of the studio.  Please ensure that you support your child in these opportunities as they are an important part of their dance training.

Student COMMENCEMENT - Saturday, June 22 - 14:15.  This is an important day for all students as it formally acknowledges a year of dedication and learning completion.  Please ensure your child participates in the milestone day!

Uniform: The visual appearance of a dancer is as much a part of the art of Dance as the movement itself. Classroom attire is particularly important. It must allow the dancer complete freedom to experience movement while maintaining safety. It must also allow the instructor and observer the opportunity to view the alignment of the body and the movement itself. At the London School of Dance, we maintain a strict policy regarding the wearing of regulation uniforms and correct grooming. Please see below for the required uniform for this level.
