Primary JAZZ & TAP Combined Class

Welcome to the explore dance program. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to be introduced to dance at London. The sessions are 7 lessons in duration. They are available throughout the year starting in September through until August. 

In Jazz, students will begin to use the skills mastered at the Junior Level simultaneously. This includes positions of the arms and feet, travelling steps, combinations, and isolations. In Tap, students will further develop the basics and progress to include more intricate footwork, rhythm, and speed. In particular, in Primary Foundation Tap students will be introduced to eighth notes throughout a variety of more complex steps. Further, in Primary Foundation students further develop their awareness of rhythm and counting, body awareness, and self-expression. This class includes the building blocks for the progression to a variety of dance disciplines in future years.

Uniform: The visual appearance of a dancer is as much a part of the art of Dance as the movement itself. Classroom attire is particularly important. It must allow the dancer complete freedom to experience movement while maintaining safety. It must also allow the instructor and observer the opportunity to view the alignment of the body and the movement itself. At the London School of Dance, we maintain a strict policy regarding the wearing of regulation uniforms and correct grooming. Please see below for the required uniform for this level.
