Primary Foundation ACROBATICS Welcome to the explore dance program. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to be introduced to dance at London. The sessions are 7 lessons in duration. They are available throughout the year starting in September through until August. Acrobatics is a dance discipline, which incorporates elements of Gymnastics, Jazz, Tumbling, and basic Contortion. In Primary Foundation Acrobatics dancers will continue to develop the fundamentals of Acrobatics with further focus on strength and flexibility. This year students will further develop the Acrobatics basics that they began learning in Junior Acrobatics. In addition, students will learn new tricks including ‘cartwheels,’ ‘Backbends and recover,’ ‘backward rolls’ and ‘elbow balances to the wall.’ Students will also continue to work on body conditioning to help with their strength and increased flexibility. Finally, at this level, students will be introduced to ‘front overs.’ Uniform: The visual appearance of a dancer is as much a part of the art of Dance as the movement itself. Classroom attire is particularly important. It must allow the dancer complete freedom to experience movement while maintaining safety. It must also allow the instructor and observer the opportunity to view the alignment of the body and the movement itself. At the London School of Dance, we maintain a strict policy regarding the wearing of regulation uniforms and correct grooming. Please see below for the required uniform for this level.
