This residency includes two months of MakerLabs membership, that will be valid from June 6th to August 5th.

Classes will take place on the first 5 Thursday evenings of the program, and the remaining time residents can work on their own schedule.

• July 4th, 6pm to 9pm

Want to get into woodworking, but not sure where to start? This residency is designed for those that are completely new to woodworking and are interested in learning to use all of the tools that we have available in the WoodLab.

The first month residents will cover the curriculums in WoodLab 101, WoodLab 102, WoodLab 201, Table Saw 101, and Lathe 101, while building a side table with a sliding drawer out of hardwood, with the assistance of an instructor. Each week, students will learn new tools and skills and will be given homework to complete within the week following the class in order to complete their projects. Students will also be available to come in on their own time during the week or during supplemental support nights to receive additional help from an instructor.

During the second month, residents act as a mentor for the next cohort, and start to pursue their own independent woodworking projects while getting support from an instructor.

Schedule:

During the first month, all classes will take place on Thursday evenings. Students will be given homework each week to finish on their own time, prior to the start of the next class. As this residency also includes membership, students can also come in and work on their projects between 9am and 9pm each day, outside of class time.

Additional support times will happen throughout the week on Tuesday afternoons, and Sunday afternoons (this schedule is subject to change). Residents may come to any / all of these additional support days if they choose to do so.

During the second month, residents can work on their own projects on their own schedules.

Is there an age limit to join the residency?

The minimum age for participants is 18 years old.  

What are my parking options at MakerLabs?

MakerLabs' parking lot is located on the east side of the building on the corner of Hawks Avenue and East Cordova Street.

How do I cancel or reschedule the residency?

Refunds, credits for future residency intakes, or transferring a ticket to a future date, will only be provided if we are notified by email to hello@makerlabs.com at least 7 days before the start of the first class. For cancellation less than 7 days before the class, we do not provide a refund, but we do offer a 50% credit towards a future intake. No refunds or credits will be provided for no shows.
