Description:

Learn to build classy, timeless furnishings out of metal.  This hands-on class will teach you the skills and techniques necessary to build structural and stylish furniture.  To start your journey, we'll build a cool stepstool for your home or workshop.

Instructors will cover the process from start to finish, including how to measure and cut metal accurately, how to bend and shape metal using different tools and techniques, and welding techniques for making different types of joins.

We'll discuss project considerations like material options, the thickness of your material, the amount of heat put into the piece during welding, and the order that you assemble the project.

Materials Fee
This class has a $20 Materials Fee, which will be added to your cart at checkout.

What to Bring

• Full length pants and closed-toed shoes.
• Hair ties for longer hair
• Please wear natural fibers (wool,cotton,etc) for fire safety
• No dangling jewelry, rings, or loose clothing
• We recommend you bring your own safety glasses if possible.  Maker Nexus will supply them for students who do not have their own.

Equipment Certifications
This class does not certify attendees to use any Maker Nexus equipment outside of class.

Members over the age of 16 will be cleared to use these tools independently. Members younger than 16 may only operate this equipment under the active supervision of a parent or guardian with an active membership who is also certified to use the same tools.
