Class Description:

Social Media, love it or hate, has become an essential communication tool. Most teens use some form of social media and have a profile on a social networking site. Many visit these sites every day. There are plenty of good things about social media — but also many risks and things kids and teens should avoid. They don't always make good choices when they post something to a site, and this can lead to problems. Setting a good example through your own virtual behavior can go a long way toward helping your kids use social media safely.

Only half the parents of kids aged 5 to 15 use some type of parental controls. One in three children are cyberbullied. Fifty-seven percent of all teens agree that using social media often distracts them when they should be doing homework. As much as parents think they are aware and on top of things, most parents are at least a half cyber step behind their children. But we can help.

In this live and interactive class, parents will learn:

  • Overview of the latest social media platforms
  • How to set up accounts and parental controls
  • Tips to ensure your kids are safe
