Course Description: The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the basic-level courses and modules in the American Red Cross Lifeguarding program.

Instructor candidates may also use the Lifeguarding Instructor’s Deck Book in conjunction with the Lifeguarding Instructor’s Manual, but the Lifeguarding Instructor’s Deck Book is not a required resource.
These resources are available for purchase at the Red Cross Store (accessible via a link provided on the Red Cross Learning Center). Instructor candidates can download digital materials from the Instructor Candidate Resources section in the Red Cross Learning Center.

Failure to meet any of the prerequisites prohibits an instructor candidate from continuing in the instructor course. The candidate must take the full Lifeguarding Instructor course at a later date after they are able to meet all of the prerequisites.
Schedule: This course will take place over two days from 7am to 6pm, including an hour break for lunch. You will need a swim suit and towel each day. Instructor-Candidates will receive an email that includes an in-depth course outline a week before the course.
