Growing up mixed race and Jewish drove Tema to dedicate her professional life to working towards a more racially inclusive and equitable Jewish community. In this conversation, Tema will open up a space to reflect on what we do well and what we can do better to ensure that we address and root out racism inside our own community.

Tema Smith is a diversity advocate, writer and Jewish community builder. She is currently the Director of Professional Development at 18Doors and a Contributing Columnist at The Forward. She is a noted speaker and educator on racial equity and diversity in the Jewish community who consults, teaches and trains regularly in Jewish communities across North America.
